THE TOYOTA CITIZENS' PLEDGE

The Toyota Citizens' Pledge

We, Toyota Citizens, as we face the future from our land blessed with beautiful mountains and rivers, from which we can see the Seven States, while handing down the rich history and traditions of our old textile hamlet, Koromo, to future generations, hereby proudly renew our pledge:
1.
To nurture greenery, to protect our rivers and to respect the rich nature around us;
1.
To value the benefits of sports, to broaden our knowledge and to raise the level of culture;
1.
To work with a willing spirit and raise healthy children in a happy family atmosphere;
1.
To help one another and to broaden our circle of friends, so as to warm our city with friendship;
1.
To revere life and to abide by the law, in order to make our society a safe and pleasant one to live in.

Presently, these "Seven States" correspond to the Provinces of Aichi, Nagano, Gifu, Shiga and Mie. The castle is also well known as the "Castle of the Seven States".
In addition, the "Seven States" are also related to the "Seven Continents" or the "Seven Seas", representing the immensity of the world.
