Important remarks:
If possible, make your call from a fixed telephone line or public telephone booth. In case you call from a mobile phone, please observe the following remarks:
1) Sometimes it is difficult to contact the Fire Department responsible for the area where the disaster is occurring. That’s why it is important to inform the exact location of the incident, address, name of the city/ district/ village, etc. (this problem will not occur if you call from a fixed line or public telephone).
2) It is possible that the person who answers your call doesn’t know the area of the incident very well. Compared to a call made from a fixed phone or public telephone booth, it is more difficult to define to which fire station the communication should be transmitted. This is why it is important to inform with details the exact location of the incident.
3) Try to use the closest fixed or public telephone booth. These telephones will put you in contact directly with the fire department in charge of the place of the incident.

How much will I be charged if I call an ambulance?
In Japan you will not be charged if you call an ambulance. The ambulance will rescue you on the place of the incident and take you to the hospital.
