National Health Insurance

The National Health Insurance (Kokumin Kenko Hoken) is one of the Public Health Insurance Systems operated by each city or town. Self-employed, students, unemployed, retired and people who work at companies that do not require affiliation to the Social Insurance System must enroll in the National Health Insurance system. In case of foreigners, the applicant should have more than one year of valid visa.
