TAXES IN JAPAN

| Japanese National, Prefectural and City Governments provide help in the areas of welfare, medical assistance, education, environmental protection, etc. These resources require funding from taxes. There are mainly 3 types of taxes: National Taxes (Income Tax, Alcohol Tax, etc.), the Prefectural Taxes (Prefectural Resident tax, Automobile tax, etc.) and City Taxes (City Resident tax, Fixed Property tax, Light Car tax, etc). Prefectural Taxes and City Taxes are calculated and collected by the city in order to simplify procedures for citizens. |
