Toyota City Hall and Toyota International Association: Year-End Holidays
The Toyota City Hall will be closed from December 29 (Wed) to January 3, 2011 (Mon) and the Toyota International Association – TIA will be closed from December 27 (Mon) to January 4, 2011 (Tue) for year-end holidays. We wish you all a Happy New Year!
Allotment & vegetable gardening
Would you like to rent an allotment to grow your own vegetables? Applications for allotments will start. Period of utilization: from April 1, 2011 (Fri) to February 28, 2014 (Fri). Important remarks: one plot per household. In case of many applicants, there will be a lottery. The result will be announced by letter to the applicant in the beginning of February. People wishing extension should also submit an application form. Available allotments: (1) Hanazono-cho B; (2) Obayashi-cho; (3) Sangen-cho; (4) Hirayama-cho A; (5) Hirayama-cho B; (6) Uwahara-cho A; (7) Uwahara-cho B; (8) Takara-machi; (9) Wakabayashi Higashimachi. For information on the number of allotments, fees, area, etc, please contact the Center below (only in Japanese). Applications / information: a postcard (1 postcard per household) containing the garden plot name, the applicant’s address, name and telephone number should be sent no later than January 14, 2011 (Fri) to the Center of Horticulture Promotion “Nouraifu Sosei Center” (〒470-0373, Toyota-shi, Shigo-cho, Matsumoto 105-1, Tel.: 0565-43.0340).
Museum of Local History: playing New Year’s traditional games
During the winter vacations, children can enjoy playing traditional Japanese games such as “snake and ladders”, “lucky laugh”, “battledore and shuttle cock”, “spinning top” & others. Date: December 18 (Sat) to January 10 (Mon/holiday) from 9 am to 5 pm. Closed on December 20 (Mon) and from December 27(Mon) to January 4 (Tue). Fee: free of charge. Workshop: decoration of good-luck “daruma” dolls and making a rabbit, next year’s Chinese Zodiac Sign. Materials: 200 yens per piece (during the event reception desk is until 16 pm).
